8-11-25 6 Weeks Old: Vet Checked and Almost Ready to Travel

The puppies are growing by leaps and bounds!  They learned how to do stairs this week and continue to learn to explore, wrestle, play, and climb!  We bought some new toys to introduce to them over the past couple of weeks to chew on with their sharp little teeth.  They love their toys, but their blankies continue to be their favorite toy!

The puppies went to the vet today to get their wellness exams as well as their first set of shots.  I will be sending their shot cards with them, and it will give you a schedule for continued immunizations.  The vet cleared every puppy on their hearts and physicals and they now have their first set of shots!  We have a very healthy batch of puppies!  I can't wait for most of these puppies to meet their owners this coming weekend!

PLAYING WITH ALL THE PUPPIES

8-5-25 5 Weeks Old: Escape Artists

The pups got acrobatic this week and learned to do chin-ups on the whelping box and learned to jump out!  We expected this would be happening soon and had the puppy pen ready to go for them.  Our puppy pen is a nice fenced-in area with a heated house enclosed in the play area.  The puppies can now run and play on the grass at will, but we still tuck them in at night into the warm crate area.  I have begun crate training them by making the crate a pleasant experience with comfy blankets and toys.  They only go in there at night when it is time to go to bed and then I take them out first thing in the morning so that they can take care of their bathroom needs.  They are learning not to use the bathroom in their crate and they are also weaning off of their mom.

We introduced solid food to the puppies last week as mentioned in my last post and we have slowly increased the amount that we have been giving them.  We still soak it in puppy formula first to make it nice and soft, but we will soon start transitioning to soaking it in water and then we will soak it less and less until they are eating it straight from the bag, which is what they will be doing when they go home.  We will be sending a bag of dog food home with them!  Now that they are getting more nutrition from the supplemental food and water we are giving them, mom is working on feeding them less and less and will try to have them weaned in the next week or so.

These little pups are very active and nearly impossible to photograph!  They are a riot to watch play and wrestle.

Here are a few pictures and videos from the week!

7-29-25 4 Weeks Old: Energetic and Ready to Explore!

These pups are growing by leaps and bounds, now weighing in over 2 lbs!

We started the pups on solid food this week.  I like to use Pedigree puppy chow as I feel like this is a quality brand that is easily found in most grocery stores.  I will send each of our pups home with a bag of Pedigree and you can choose to continue with this brand, or if you want to switch to another brand, you can use this and incorporate your new brand a little at a time to introduce your pup to a new food.  Switching brands cold turkey can sometimes cause tummy upset, so this is a good way to do it.

The puppies have loved having playtime outside this week and are starting to get a little braver about exploring new sights and scents.

You will notice that this week, Cooper's name has now changed to Milo!  We were excited to learn what his new family will call him.  If anyone else wants us to update the names of their pup, let us know and we will start calling the pups by their forever names!

Here are a few pictures and videos from the week!

Little Jordan was tired of his picture shoot and he gave us the cutest little howl.  I really wish I had the video camera turned on to capture it!  It was hilarious and melted my heart.

7-20-25 3 Weeks Old: Harder, Better, Faster Stronger

Some teammates steal bases, ours just steal our hearts!  These puppies certainly have our hearts, and our goldens are a major part of our family.

This week was a huge growth week for our little fur babies.  They are getting more and more stable on their feet and are starting to wrestle and play with each other, which is so funny to watch. They are also starting to bark and growl, which is so cute.  We took them outside and introduced them to grass for the first time today, and they weren't quite sure what to think.  In the next week or so, they are going to double their weight again and will be jumping out of the whelping box, begging to go outside.  Right now, they still tucker out pretty quickly and enjoyed piling in a heap on the grass and having a big nap together.  We gave their first de-worming oral treatment today and got weights to make sure they are still growing.  Each puppy gained close to half a pound this week!  They are starting to get chunky.

Here are this week's photos and videos.

7-13-25 The Air Buds are 2 Weeks Old

We are thrilled to have our own crew of Air Buds, so we decided to go with sports-themed names! We named the pups after some of our favorite athletes, and it seemed fitting since Golden Retrievers are a very athletic dog breed that loves to play fetch (retrieve).

The puppies will turn two weeks old on Monday and they are growing and doing phenomenal.  Everybody has steadily gained weight these last two weeks and I will note their weights under each individual puppy.  The dew claws healed nicely and we are starting to see these little girls and guys open their eyes these past few days as well as push up on their feet and they are now starting to toddle rather than slither.

It has been fun this week as the puppies are starting to find their vocals to listen to them make the most adorable puppy noises.  The darker puppies look like they will have that gorgeous dark red coat and blocky head like dad, but we have a few that will be that lighter golden color, just like mom.

BROWN MALE BRADY
Brady, named after NFL Quarterback Tom Brady,  weighed in at 1 lb last week and has gained to 2 lbs and 3 oz this week.

BLUE MALE COOPER
Meet Cooper, named for 2025 NCAA Duke Legend, Cooper Flagg,  weighed in at just shy of a pound last week has more than doubled his weight to 2 lbs. 2 oz.

YELLOW MALE CURRY
Meet Curry, our golden boy, named tor the Golden State Warriors 3-point King, Stephen Curry.  He is our runt weighing only 1 lb 5 oz this week, but up from only 11 oz last week.  He is getting lots of snuggles by the kids who love this tiny baby.

BLACK MALE JORDAN

This is Jordan, named for arguably the greatest NBA player of all time, Michael Jordan.  He started off small, but has more than doubled his weight from 14 oz last week to 2 lbs 1 oz this week!

RED MALE MAHOMIE
Welcome Mahomie!  He is named for Patrick Mahomes, the NFL quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, who has led his team to 3 Super Bowl championships.  He is a strong boy with dark coloring and has doubled his weight to 2 lbs 8 oz. this week!

PINK FEMALE CAITLIN
This is Caitlin, named after WNBA Fever and former University of Iowa basketball standout, Caitlin Clark.  She is a big, strong girl and is one of our bigger puppies, tipping the scale at 2 lbs 10 oz.

GREEN FEMALE SERENA
Say hi to Serena, named for Serena Williams, the tennis superstar who holds the record for grand slam singles titles and four time olympic gold medalist.  She along with her sisters is one of our biggest pups.  She is strong and smart and maybe a little sassy.  She weighed in today at 2lbs 7 oz.

LT. BLUE FEMALE SIMONE
Meet Simone, named for one of the greatest female gymnasts of all time and an 11-time Olympic medalist, Simone Biles.  She has more than doubled her weight to 2 lbs. 8 oz. this week and is getting so strong!

ENS conditioning has been taking place this week and last, and the puppies are doing really well with the exercises.  If you would like to learn more about ENS, I would invite you to do a Google search or click on the ENS tab on my home page!  I am so excited to know that we are helping these puppies have their best start and are on their way to becoming the most incredible dogs.

6-30-25 The Puppies Have Arrived

Bailey did absolutely fantastic bringing these babies into the world and has been a very proud and attentive mom as she takes care of them and keeps them warm and fed.  All 8 puppies appear to be healthy and strong and we can't wait to see the beautiful dogs they grow to be.

6-19-25 10 Days Until Due Date!

Mama Bailey is really starting to show her pregnancy.  She seems to be craving all people food at a ravenous rate and especially loves bread!  We can't wait to meet these puppies in just 10 days.  Until then we have mama on a special food that will give her the extra calories she needs to grow healthy babies.
