Current Litter 2023

10-7-23 7 WEEKS OLD:
It's the final countdown!  We had 4 puppies leave us this week.  And we are going to miss our puppy snuggles and kisses with Jade, Trout, Oakley, and Jasper.  But meeting their new families has made us so excited for the amazing lives they're going to lead and the wonderful adventures their new families are going to take them on!

Less than one week left until all of the rest of the puppies head to their new homes.  Mama Sage says she is done feeding these cuties, as their sharp teeth give her good incentive to wean!  The puppies have been getting some good wrestling in with Mom and Grandma Bailey so that they will be street-tough and know how to handle themselves!

We are feeding them twice a day currently at breakfast and dinner and offering them water all day long.  You can continue this schedule, or add a third lunchtime feeding if you think your pup could use one more feeding a day.  We give them about 3/4 cup of food each per feeding, but you can continue to add a little if you see they are eating their food quickly.  You may also choose to free feed, which is to say leave food out all day long as long as your dog is a good self-regulator and not becoming obese.

If you think of any questions that you about puppy care I am always happy to answer your questions even after you take the pups home!

It is getting near impossible to get these wiggly babies to sit still for pictures!  This will be our last photo shoot with the puppies as it will only be a matter of days before you get to meet them!  I hope you will all take lots of pictures and send them to us throughout the year!

9-30-23 6 WEEKS OLD:
The puppies are growing by leaps and bounds!  They learned how to do stairs this week and continue to learn to explore, wrestle, play, and climb!  We bought some new toys to introduce to them this week to help with their teething.  We got them some little squeaky stuffed animals that also crinkle, as well as some rope balls.  They love their toys!  My girls also found some cute puppy scarves and we couldn't resist taking some pictures with them!

The puppies will go to the vet on Monday morning and get their wellness exams as well as their first set of shots.  I will be sending their shot cards with them and it will give you a schedule for continued immunizations.  I will let everyone know immediately if there are any problems or concerns.

RED FEMALE RUBY:
Is it my imagination or does Ruby always look like she is glaring at me???  She has so much expression in her face that you can tell she is going to be a golden with so much character and dare I say, sass?

Oh please, please, please continue to send me updates and pictures of Ruby's silly faces after you take her home!

YELLOW FEMALE AHSOKA:
I think this little girl has a career ahead of her in modeling!  She is probably the puppy who loves getting her picture taken the most.  It seriously feels like she knows what we are doing and wants her picture taken and will pose for us.  She always thinks it's her turn!

DARK GREEN FEMALE EMERALD "EMMY":
We might have another diva on our hands with Emmy, check that side eye, haha!  She is actually a good mix of sisters Ruby and Ahsoka in that she loves to model and will sit nicely for her pictures, but also has some great expressions.

ORANGE FEMALE AMBER:
Our beautiful little Amber is still looking for a forever home, so if you know anyone who could use a pup that is going to grow up to be a gorgeous dark golden/ reddish babe.  Amber is very smart, social, and is going to be a very healthy girl.  We hope she finds a great family!

NEON GREEN FEMALE JADE:
We are constantly amazed at how clever and athletic Jade is!  When we tuck the puppies in at night, Jade just looks at us like, "Oh, you silly people, do you really think I won't find a way out of this dog house?"  And then she shows us how she can get out and then teaches the other puppies how to get out as well!  We have had to problem-solve many times to Jade-proof the escape!

WHITE FEMALE OAKLEY:
Oakley may have been a little annoyed that we made her wear that silly scarf!  Sweet little Oakley loves her people!  She is a pup who wants to be held snuggled and played with.  She has a very sweet and quiet disposition and she gets plenty of snuggles because she will hold still for hours, happy to be held!

PINK FEMALE CORAL:
Our sweet baby Coral is a lot like sister Oakley and loves to be cuddled.  I think we baby Coral quite a bit because she is still just a little bit smaller than her brothers and sisters.  We always make sure she gets the best spot at the feeding dish and make sure that she gets packed around and babied properly!

BLACK MALE DUKE:
Duke was thrilled this week when we brought home some new toys to explore.  This boy loves to play and especially likes a good tug of war.  He likes to play and wrestle with his siblings and is going to have a lot of fun playing with his new family!

MAROON MALE JASPER:
Look at the smile on our Jasper boy!  He is constantly cracking me up, with his funny hops and loping run, to his ability to always find his way to the middle of the food dish.  He is silly and fun!  He is a happy boy and is going to love having kids in his new family!

BLUE MALE TROUT:
Trout is our male model.  He strikes a nice pose!  He is our biggest prankster.  You have to watch out for Trout, because he loves to sneak up and bite your toes!  He has also discovered this week that it is hilarious to grab the girls by their ponytails.  He keeps us on our toes and keeps us laughing!

The puppies are so much fun to play with and snuggle!  We are going to really miss them when they go to their homes starting next weekend!

9-24-23 5 WEEKS OLD:
The pups got acrobatic this week and learned to do chin-ups on the whelping box and learned to jump out!  We expected this would be happening soon and had the puppy pen ready to go for them.  Our puppy pen is a nice fenced-in area with a heated house enclosed in the play area.  The puppies can now run and play on the grass at will, but we still tuck them in at night and keep them in the heated area to keep them safe and warm.  One positive outcome of this next step is that it helps them begin crate training.  Puppies naturally don't like sleeping in their stink, so they learn to take care of their bathroom needs outside.

We introduced solid food to the puppies last Sunday as mentioned in my last post and we have slowly increased the amount that we have been giving them.  We still soak it in puppy formula first to make it nice and soft, but we will soon start transitioning to soaking it in water and then we will soak it less and less until they are eating it straight from the bag, which is what they will be doing when they go home.  We will be sending a bag of dog food home with them!  Now that they are getting more nutrition from the supplemental food and water we are giving them, mom is working on feeding them less and less and will try to have them weaned in the next week or so.

These little pups are very active and nearly impossible to photograph!  We had some rainy weather this week, so we opted for an indoor photo shoot.  They are a riot to watch play and wrestle.

Here are a few pictures and videos from the week!

RED FEMALE RUBY:

Ruby was cracking us up with how much she seemed to be enjoying her reward for getting her picture taken!

YELLOW FEMALE AHSOKA:

We wore out sweet little Ahsoka.  We had to do two different takes on her photo shoot.  The first time we tried to get her picture, she refused to hold still, there were WAY too many things to explore in my daughter's room.  We had to let her go explore for a while before we brought her back and had another go with pictures.  All of that excitement tuckered her right out!

DARK GREEN FEMALE EMERALD "EMMY":

I would lay on my belly to take pictures of the puppies and Emmy kept wanting to crawl right over to me and see what I was doing.  I loved this extreme close-up!

ORANGE FEMALE AMBER:

This little girl, Amber, was very curious about that plant!

NEON GREEN FEMALE JADE:

Cute little Jade was easy to photograph.  She loved the feel of that fur and kept burying her face in it.  We couldn't convince her to stand up for the pictures.  She has been one of our bravest pups, one of the first out of the box and one that likes to wander from mom to explore her surroundings.  She is going to love to have a family who likes to go on adventures.

WHITE FEMALE OAKLEY:

Miss Oakley has a very chill personality and she was super easy to photograph.  She seemed to know just what we wanted her to do and was a model pup posing beautifully for her pictures.  I think she will have a very calm personality and will be a breeze to train!

PINK FEMALE CORAL:

Coral is still our sweet little runt.  She continues to weigh in as our smallest pup, but she makes sure she gets her fair share when food is involved.  We can't help but dote on this little baby!

These four sweet girls are still looking for homes!
L to R: Coral, Jade, Amber, and Emmy

BLACK MALE DUKE:

This boy is the perfect mix of fun and sweet.  He loves to play with his siblings, but he also loves to be snuggled.  He has had fun exploring the yard this week and is getting brave about venturing out!

MAROON MALE JASPER:

Jasper is a very go-with-the-flow kind of guy.  I almost hesitate to post this picture in case anyone thinks we abuse these puppies by humiliating them by such means as making them wear a shoe on their head.  Jasper didn't seem to mind though.  He loves all of the games and fun that the kids come up to play with him!

BLUE MALE TROUT:

We can tell by this sweet boy's name that his family is going to take him on lots of adventures and he is going to love being active.  He also has a very calm demeanor and is very good to sit for photographs, but he is also curious about his surroundings.  He is going to love a family that will take him on outdoor adventures!

9-16-23 4 WEEKS OLD:
These pups are growing by leaps and bounds, having doubled their weights once again and now weighing in over 2 lbs!  The puppies each received a dewormer treatment this week, which is not because the puppies have worms, but rather a preventative treatment that should always be administered to small puppies.  They will receive their next dose in 2 weeks when we take them in for a vet check and their first set of shots.

We will be starting the pups on solid food this week.  I like to use Pedigree puppy chow as I feel like this is a quality brand that is easily found in most grocery stores.  I will send each of our pups home with a bag of Pedigree and you can choose to continue with this brand, or if you want to switch to another brand, you can use this and incorporate your new brand a little at a time to introduce your pup to a new food.  Switching brands cold turkey can sometimes cause tummy upset, so this is a good way to do it.

The puppies have loved having playtime outside this week and are starting to get a little braver about exploring new sights and scents.

You will notice that this week, Flint's name has now changed to Duke!  We were excited to learn what his new family will call him.  If anyone else wants us to update the names of their pup, let us know and we will start calling the pups by their forever names!

(I kept trying to get Ruby to lay down by her sisters, and she did NOT want to lay down.   She wanted to go and play.  I love the annoyed look on her face.  Goldie was feeling pretty much the same way as her sister, but at least I convinced her to lie down!  Ha ha!)

I thought this picture was too cute not to share.  I swear he did it on purpose because he didn't want his picture taken... haha!

We love snuggling these little fur babies!

Here are a few outtakes from our photo shoot this week.  As these pups grow and want to explore and play it gets pretty difficult to get a single photo, let alone get them all together for a group photo!  Here are a few we got of the girls while a few tried to make a run for it!

And a little video of the boys while we tried to get a photo:

And here is a little video of Whitlee introducing all of her puppy friends.  Hopefully, we didn't miss anyone!

9-9-23 3 WEEKS OLD:
"Remember that wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure."  These puppies certainly have our hearts and our goldens are a major part of our family.  We absolutely adore them, so when we wanted to think of some theme names for our precious golden babies, the names of jewels and precious stones seemed to fit perfectly!

This week was a huge growing week for our little fur babies.  They are getting more and more stable on their feet and are starting to wrestle and play with each other which is so funny to watch. They are also starting to bark and growl, which is so cute.  We took them outside and introduced them to grass for the first time yesterday and they weren't quite sure what to think.  In the next week or so, they are going to double their weight again and will be jumping out of the whelping box begging to go outside.  Right now, they still tucker out pretty quickly and enjoyed piling in a heap on the grass and having a big nap together.  We will be giving them their first de-worming oral treatment tomorrow and will get weights on them to make sure they are still growing.

Here are this week's photos and videos.  I have still posted them in order of darkest to lightest.  You may notice that everyone seems lighter in coloring this week, but that is due to camera lighting.  In weeks 1-2 we took the pictures inside.   The sunlight/ natural lighting gives everything a softer, lighter look in the photos.  We still expect that Ruby, Goldie, probably Emmy, Jasper, and Flint will have more of the dark red coloring of their dad.  The rest should be a dark golden like mom or still may pull some red like dad, we are just watching what they do as they grow.  We have noticed over the years that puppies tend to darken up over time and will generally grow into the color of their ears and snouts.

Here is a picture of our mama Sage for reference.  She was lighter as a puppy but grew into that dark golden color of her ears.

9-1-23 OUR LITTLE "TREASURES" ARE 2 WEEKS OLD!
The puppies will turn two weeks old on Sunday and they are growing and doing phenomenal.  Everybody has steadily gained weight these last two weeks and I will note their weights under each individual puppy.  The dew claws healed nicely and we are starting to see these little girls and guys open their eyes these past few days as well as push up on their feet and they are now starting to toddle rather than slither.

It has been fun this week to see the puppies start to develop some markings like their daddy, Huck.  The darker puppies look like they will have that gorgeous dark red coat and blocky head like dad, but many have inherited that cute white patch on his chest that we adore.  I have noted each of their markings below under their individual information.

I have had a lot of questions about which puppies are the darkest, so I have posted them here in order of darkest to lightest by females and then males.

RED FEMALE RUBY

Ruby weighed in at 13 oz last week and weighed in at 1 lb 9 oz today.  She is by far our darkest pup.  It looks like she will have a little white stripe or patch on her chest like her daddy and maybe even some darling little white toes on her back paws.

YELLOW FEMALE GOLDIE
Goldie weighed 14 1/2 oz at one week old and weighed in at 1 lb 10 oz today.  She is a gorgeous dark shade of red like dad and also has a very small white spot on her chest.  Otherwise, she doesn't seem to have any other white markings.

DARK GREEN FEMALE EMMY
Emmy is also darker golden in coloring and will have a small white patch or stripe on her chest.  she weighed 12 oz last week and has now doubled her weight to 1 lb 8 oz.

ORANGE FEMALE AMBER
Amber is one of our medium-sized pups.  She has a beautiful dark golden/ reddish color.  She has a tiny white stripe on her chest like Daddy.  She weighed 10.5 oz last week and has more than doubled her weight weighing in at 1lb 5 oz today!

NEON GREEN FEMALE JADE
Jade is going to be a dark golden color.  We haven't noticed a white marking on her like dad, so she may take more after her mother.  She is gaining weight well weighing in at 13 oz last week and 1 lb 9 oz. today.

WHITE FEMALE IVORY
Ivory is one of our lightest golden pups.  Though she is one of our lightest pups, I still anticipate she will be a darker golden color that closely matches her mom.  Because she takes after her mom, I also haven't noticed a white patch or white markings on her.  She has also been one of our smaller pups weighing in at 11 1/2 oz at one week and 1 lb 6 oz. today.

PINK FEMALE CORAL

Coral is both our lightest-colored pup as well as our runt. Like Ivory, she will be a darker golden color like her mom and she also doesn't have any white markings from Dad.  Coral was our tiniest baby weighing in at 9.5 oz at one week, but she is still doing awesome gaining weight and meeting normal development milestones.  She weighed in at 1 lb 1 oz today.  She is a fighter and makes sure she gets her fair share at feeding time.

Our girls L to R from darkest to lightest: Ruby, Goldie, Emmy, Amber, Jade, Ivory, and Coral

BLACK MALE FLINT
Flint is probably our darkest male, though he really is very comparable to Jasper in color.  Flint has a small white stripe on his chest marking him as his father's son.  He also has some adorable white toes on his back right paw.  He weighed in at 13.5 oz last week and at 1 lb 10 oz this week.

MAROON MALE JASPER

Jasper is nearly identical to his brother, Flint in both his coloring and his size.  He also has a tiny white stripe on his chest, but we haven't noticed any white toes.  He weighed 12 oz at 1 week old and 1 lb 8 oz today.

BLUE MALE COBALT
Coby is a mama's boy with her gorgeous golden coloring.  He also doesn't have any white patches like Dad, but takes entirely after his mother.  He weighs in very similar to his brothers, 14 oz at 1 week and 1 lb 10 oz today.

8-27-23 PHOTO SHOOT

We had a chance to get some individual pictures of the puppies today!  We also got another weight on them and everyone is growing and developing just as they should!  All of the puppies are right near 1 lb with baby Coral being our smallest at about 12 oz.

8-20-23 THE PUPPIES ARE HERE!

The puppies arrived on Sunday, August 20th, and boy are they cute!  Sage did so good and has this motherhood thing down to a science.  She has been a very attentive mother and fretted over keeping her large batch clean and fed.  We can tell that we are going to have some gorgeous dark red puppies in this mix.  We also appear to have a good mix of dark goldens.

Dew claws were removed this week at 3 days old.  The puppies did very well with dew claw removal.

These pups will be ready to join their adoptive families towards the middle of October.  They will have received their first set of shots, 2 doses of de-wormer, and received a vet health check.  We will send them to their homes with a bag of puppy food, a chew toy, and a blanket with mom's scent.  In addition, these pups will be AKC registered with all of the paperwork filed.
